Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Receives Update, Easing Player Experience

The recently released Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, has received a much-needed update to ease the player experience.

While Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is the highest-rated DLC ever, it did have a handful of quirks players didn’t enjoy. Luckily, Elden Ring has heard the cry out for these frustrations and has put out an update to fix the issues the player base is unhappy with.

Everything Included In The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Update

The recent Calibration Update 1.12.2 for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has specifically been allocated to make the DLC easier for players to maneuver through. This has been done by rebalancing the character progression featured in the DLC by a respectable amount. The Scadutree Blessings, which are used to help players, have been improved by attack and damage negation.

Attack and damage negation will be increased for the first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements. However, in order to balance this new revisited mechanic, the second half will be gradual. Although this may not seem like too much of a change, it will definitely help players further enjoy the DLC with these small tweaks and changes. Luckily, attack and damage negation at the final level of Blessing enhancements has also been slightly increased.

However, despite the much-needed update, it’s unknown how long until other bugs found in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be fixed. In recent reviews, many players have mentioned they’ve experienced micro-stuttering, frame drops, increased loading times, and intermittent freezing. Although a smaller population has brought up these issues compared to the difficulty of the DLC, it’s hard to know when these technical issues will be addressed. All we know is that they have confirmed there will be bug fixes and balance adjustments in a future patch.

Luckily, they have addressed one other issue, specifically for PC players. Raytracing settings are automatically enabled if players previously loaded saved data from earlier game versions. Here is how to fix this issue:

  • Go to the title menu or in-game menu.
  • Select to System.
  • Select Graphics Settings.
  • Select Raytracing Quality.
  • Set to OFF.
