Once Human offers players and their friends a huge open-world survival adventure, but does it have a singleplayer mode? Here’s what you need to know.
Once Human is predominantly an online multiplayer survival shooter with MMO-like elements. So, it may be surprising that some players are curious whether it has the option to play singleplayer. Fortunately, if you’re hoping to play it alone, there is absolutely the option to do so.
Can You Play Once Human Solo?
Yes, you can play Once Human solo. You can explore, build, and survive all by yourself without anyone else needed in your party. However, you won’t strictly be alone. This is an online game, so you should expect other players to be running around. The world isn’t instanced per player. Instead, it is shared by everyone in your world. There are even PvE World Events that happen periodically where everyone can band together.
Of course, this does stretch the definition of solo a little. But the game absolutely does work as a solo experience. You just need to be prepared to bump into the occasional other player. Can You Play Once Human Offline?
No, you cannot play Once Human offline. This is a strictly online-only multiplayer experience with absolutely no offline content. If you try to play Once Human offline, you won’t be able to sign in and start playing. This is a shame, as other survival experiences, such as Ark Survival Evolved, do allow you to play offline. However, this is not the case for Once Human.
Fortunately, Once Human is completely free-to-play. So, if you’re unsure whether it’s for you thanks to the online requirement, you can always try it out and see for yourself. However, if you have a really poor internet connection or would rather play completely alone, then, unfortunately, Once Human is not for you.
Is Once Human Fun Singleplayer?
Yes, Once Human is very fun in singleplayer. The game has been designed and balanced with both multiplayer and singleplayer in mind. You can do everything you’d want to do in multiplayer in singleplayer, meaning you’re never locked out of content.
Singleplayer is our preferred way of playing, although playing with friends has its merits. The experience is definitely comparable to playing other multiplayer survival games, such as Rust and Day Z, as a solo player.
