Developer The Coalition is bringing players the next Gears of War title, Gears of War: E-Day. As the final reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft showcased that a prequel title for Gears of War is heading to Xbox Series X/S as well as Game Pass on day one. After over five years since the last entry in the series, players are going to be stepping back into the role of the iconic hero, Marcus Fenix.
Gears of War: E-Day Is Showing the First Days of The Locust Threat
The reveal trailer for Gears of War: E-Day shows that players are heading back to E-Day. The event is known in the series as the first emergence of the Locust threat invading Sera. The Locust didn’t come from above but rather from right under the surface of Sera. Players are going to be experiencing the event as a young Marcus Fenix. Furthermore, we are going to see the return of Fenix’s best friend, Dominic Santiago.
The reveal trailer showcases a fight between Fenix and a Locust Drone enemy. Throughout the trailer, we are treated to a rendition of the iconic Mad World song. The fight ends with Marcus taking down the foe before the floor gives way. Dom rescues him, and we see the effects that E-Day has on the planet of Sera. Because of the timeline of this game, it is the furthest back the series has gone. We will get to see Marcus and Dom over 14 years before the events of the first Gears of War title. Players are going to be utilizing various weapons, such as the famous Lancer rifle, cutting down Locust as they fight to take back Sera.
Besides knowing it’ll be on Game Pass on day one, we have no details on when to expect the game. However, with the game being made in Unreal Engine 5, it seems like the wait will definitely be worth it. Was the reveal of Gears of War: E-Day a surprise to you?
