A new DOOM game is reportedly coming to current generation consoles and will likely be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase in June.
June is the greatest time of the year, for video game enthusiasts anyway, as it’s when all of the big showcases drop. From Summer Game Fest to the various publisher conferences, there’s plenty to be excited about. Fortunately, before they even drop, new details have emerged on one of the few alleged titles to be shown. Players wanting to take down demons as the Doom Slayer may be in luck. The new game is going to be shown at the Xbox Games Showcase next month, and we have the details below.
A New DOOM Game is Set to Reveal At The June Xbox Games Showcase
The new DOOM game will be titled DOOM: The Dark Ages and will be released on current-generation consoles. It is likely to be shown during the Xbox Games Showcase event in June 2024. The details come from outlet Insider Gaming. While at first, it may seem just like rumors, many pieces of evidence point to this being true. Over a year ago, a trademark was filed for “IDKFA” by Bethesda. Coincidentally, the phrase is a cheat code famous within the DOOM series. Therefore, a hint at the potential of a new game. Furthermore, Tom Warren reports from The Verge last month, amid the layoffs of major Xbox studios, including Tango Gameworks, that a new DOOM title is on the way.
The title is interesting as the end of the DOOM Eternal DLC teases the DOOM Slayer falling into a coma of sorts. Therefore, the story could possibly be a new revival of the DOOM franchise or a direct sequel. Either way, it seems players are going to be reliving the fast-paced action of taking down demons with the newest entry.

DOOM: The Dark Ages To Be Multiplatform
A big shock is that the game is going to be releasing not just on Xbox Series X/S but also on PlayStation 5 as well. The report of the game going multiplatform comes from NateTheHate2 on X. The developer, ID Software, is under the umbrella of Bethesda, which was purchased by Microsoft back in 2021. When the acquisition was complete, many believed the titles would be exclusive, with Starfield as an example. However, with this development, it seems that that has shifted, and Sony players will still get to experience some of their games.
The DOOM series has always been incredibly popular with players, and seeing a new entry into the series is always welcome. However, the multiplatform shift is still interesting to see. It could indicate that future Bethesda titles, like Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls 6, will also be on PlayStation. However, we have no concrete confirmation from either Microsoft or Bethesda on these developments as of yet.
Recent Xbox games that were coming to other consoles have been a big success. Of course, Phil Spencer previously made the commitment to bring even more. So, it would only make sense to see Bethesda titles coming to PlayStation. What do you think? Do you expect to see DOOM coming to PlayStation? Let us know in the comments below.
