It’s understandable that players will want to hop into multiplayer co-op in Wuthering Waves as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, you’ll need to unlock it first.
Wuthering Waves offers players a huge open world and plenty of characters to unlock, not unlike Genshin Impact. Of course, fans of that game are likely expecting Wuthering Waves to offer some form of co-op. Below, we explain exactly what you can expect from Wuthering Waves’ multiplayer and how you unlock it.
Can You Play Wuthering Waves in Multiplayer Co-Op?
Yes, you can play Wuthering Waves in multiplayer co-op with up to two other people. You can obviously choose to play solo, with one other player (but the host gets to pick two characters to join), or with two friends for a party of 3.
In multiplayer co-op, you’ll be able to experience the majority of the game’s content. This includes roaming the open world, completing missions, and defeating bosses. The only content that isn’t available in multiplayer co-op is the Tower of Adversity and Depths of Illusive Realm. These are both endgame activities.
How to Unlock Wuthering Waves Multiplayer Co-Op
To play Wuthering Waves in multiplayer co-op, you must first reach Union Level 22. This will take a lot of time and grinding, so don’t expect to be playing co-op right off the bat. Your Union Level will increase when you’ve earned enough Union Experience. You’ll get Union Experience by completing activities, including opening chests, defeating powerful bosses, and completing quests.
We highly recommend you pursue the main story as quickly as possible, as this is the best way of earning a lot of Union Experience. While it’ll still take you a while, focusing on the main story until you reach level 22 is the best solution. Alternatively, you can spend your Waveplate to earn Union Experience.
How to Play Wuthering Waves in Multiplayer Co-Op
To play Wuthering Waves in multiplayer co-op, you’ll either need to invite your friend via the Friends list, have them invite you, or find their party in the multiplayer menu by selecting the World icon at the top-left of your minimap and then choosing Apply to Join next to the party you want to partner up with. Additionally, you can join a stranger’s party by selecting a party with the ‘direct entry’ option enabled. - Reach Union Level 22 to unlock the ability to play co-op
- Select the World icon located on the top-left of your minimap.
- This will open a menu where you can see all available parties you can join
- Find your friend’s party and select Apply to Join.
- Alternatively, have your friend invite you from their Friends list.
- To invite your friend, add your friend to your Friends list.
- To do this, go to the Terminal menu and choose the Friends tab. Select Add Friends and then put in their ID. Your friend will then need to accept this request.
- Next, invite them to join your party by selecting them from your Friends list.
