XDefiant has been hotly anticipated for quite some time, and now that it finally has a release date, players are gearing up to try it out. Here’s everything you need to know before jumping in.
A successful public server test for XDefiant was held in April 2024, generating a significant amount of excitement and hyping players up for the full release. As many are looking for a new first-person shooter to play, it seems like the next best thing. Fortunately, it won’t be long until it is released.
XDefiant Release Date
XDefiant is officially releasing on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. This comes from an official Ubisoft announcement, which also revealed all of the maps, weapons, and factions coming at launch. It also revealed a roadmap for the game, outlining new content coming over the next year.
XDefiant Platforms & Price
XDefiant will be launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and on PC exclusively through Ubisoft Connect. This means you won’t be able to play it on Steam or the Epic Games Store.
It will also be released completely for free, although players should expect microtransactions. Nothing new for Ubisoft, then. This will include character skins, weapon skins, and more. We don’t suspect Ubisoft will charge for actual playable content, such as maps or Faction access.
What Is XDefiant?
XDefiant is a first-person shooter that is similar to Call of Duty. Players choose to play as one of five factions from across Ubisoft’s various franchises. These groups consist of the Libertad from the Far Cry series, Echelon from Splinter Cell, Cleaners from The Division, Phantoms from Ghost Recon, and Dedsec from Watch Dogs. Each faction has different abilities to use that will assist players in fighting other teams.
It is also bringing familiar modes from other shooters, like Call of Duty, to the games. These include Escort, Zone Control, Domination, Occupy, and Hot Shot. Along with the five modes at launch, players will have 14 maps, 24 weapons, and over 44 attachments per weapon. With plenty of content for the game and a year-one roadmap already revealed, things are looking quite promising.
