Getting hyped for a game is no easy feat, especially as thousands of them get released every month. With new directs, states of play and whathaveyous releasing daily at this point, it’s easy to get lost in the hubbub of it all. So, we here at The Game Crater come up with a list of the greatest games releasing each month for your entertainment and to hopefully showcase some lesser-known titles alongside the obvious big boys and girls. While every month has its stand-out games, it seems that this month has some particularly juicy titles. As always, the closer we get to Summer, the hotter the games seem to get. So, without further ado, here are our top 10 most anticipated games of June.
Stonefly – June 1st
Stonefly caught our attention a little while ago and has stuck in our minds ever since. It is a “chill” mech adventure game that focuses on the coming-of-age story of Annika. Everything from its gorgeous art style to its captivating narrative gets our juices flowing. But it is the reputation of Flight School Studio that reassures us Stonefly will be excellent. Their previous title, Creature in the Well, is amazing and was well received. Also, we love mechs, I mean who doesn’t? So, with all that going for it, how can Stonefly not be amazing?
Take flight across a gorgeous world in Stonefly this June 1st for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Open Country – June 3rd

Open Country is a wilderness simulator in which you must survive in the wild. Don’t worry though, you’ll have a loyal dog by your side as you explore the three massive maps. Dogs make everything better. Get it for the dog.

As the highly-anticipated sequel to the incredible Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Chivalry 2 has a lot to live up to. But if the gameplay we’ve seen thus far is anything to go by, this is going to be a bloody good time. A real gorgeous game. An absolutely… well, you get the point.

Edge of Eternity – June 8th
Edge of Eternity has probably sat in our respective Steam libraries for some time now. In fact, those who have owned the game during its long, but successful Early Access phase, have likely been bombarded with overwhelmingly large updates. Well, it’s about time we all get to see what those 30GB updates have been all about.
This is a one of a kind game, with a fun and innovative combat system, a huge world to explore, a deep sci-fi/fantasy narrative to uncover, and a soundtrack by the legendary Yasunori Mitsuda (Xenoblade Chronicles). If you haven’t heard of Edge of Eternity until just now, then we highly recommend you check it out. We can’t wait to play through the full release very soon.

We Are Football – June 10th
Oggy Oggy Oggy (Aussie, Aussie, Aussie), Oi Oi Oi! If you love football, which, let’s be honest, you do, then We are Football is bound to be the game for you. From what we’ve seen, We are Football seems like the ultimate management simulator. The list of features on steam is comprehensive, to say the least, and the developer, Winning Streak Games, seems to have really put their all into this one. Not only that, but it also lets you manage a women’s team, which is awesome to see. We cannot wait to get our hands on this and delve deep into its intricate systems. We highly recommend fans of football do the same.
Manage your team to greatness in We Are Football this June 10th for PC.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale – June 10th
We’ve played and previewed Chicory: A Colorful Tale twice now, we love it that much. Back in February, Tom took a look at it during the Steam Game Festival and praised it to no end. In April, Jayden took a look at the demo during the LudoNarraCon event and enjoyed it immensely. So, it is safe to say that Chicory: A Colorful Tale is high on our most anticipated list. This is a gorgeous puzzle game with an eccentric narrative and fun colourful gameplay. Check out either of our reviews above for a good idea of our thoughts.

But for fans of the original games and those that enjoyed the reboot in 2016, this addition to the franchise is a dream come true. There are numerous worlds to explore, a brand new character to meet, and all the action-packed glory we’ve come to know and love.
On top of all of that, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a beautiful showcase for the PlayStation 5’s impressive hardware. So, if you’re one of the lucky few who own that console, then be sure to pick this one up.

SCARLET NEXUS – June 25th
SCARLET NEXUS (because it has to be in all caps), is the latest animepalooza from BANDAI NAMCO Studios. With its lavish visuals, dark and gritty, yet admittedly unique narrative, and exceptionally franticly explosive combat, SCARLET NEXUS seems set to wow audiences with a spectacle of a lifetime.
If you loved Astral Chain, then this “Brain Punk” game set in a neon-soaked future where you take on disturbing and unique creatures is the game for you. We’re simply cannot wait for SCARLET NEXUS, and to hopefully shout its praises from the rooftops.
