Winterfest is returning this year for another holiday-themed event of free gifts and rewards in Fortnite Battle Royale.
With the Fortnite Battle Royale v28.01 December 14 hotfix, Winterfest has been added to the game and runs from now until January 2, 2024, at 9 am ET. Here is everything you can expect in Fortnite.

Lots of Free Gifts
Sgt. Winter is providing players with free gifts during the holiday season. This includes Outfits, Gliders, a Lobby Track that doubles as a Jam Track, and plenty more. The Winterfest Bushranger and Holiday Boxy Outfits, which you can view above, are part of the event, and both of these outfits also have a LEGO style.
You can grab these gifts by collecting them daily from the Quests tab. Don’t worry if you miss a day, as the gifts will stack and will continue to be available until Winterfest ends.
Festive Weapons Return from the Vault
Festive Weapons are returning from the vault to help spread the holiday cheer. Here is what you can expect to find during the Winterfest event, according to the Fortnite blog post:
- Throw down Holiday Presents! to open them up and grab the loot inside.
- Put on the Sneaky Snowmando disguise to give your enemies a seasonal surprise.
- Unleash frozen fury with the explosive Snowball Launcher.
- Consume a Snowy Flopper to restore some Health and give yourself icy feet.
- Fling yourself with the Icy Grappler and land with icy feet. (The Icy Grappler will be unvaulted later during Winterfest.)
Winterfest Quests Return
The unvaulted items are closely tied with a new set of quests for Winterfest. They will progressively become available over the course of the event, and completing all 19 of them will unblock the Snowglobe Smasher Pickaxe. The Winterfest 2023 quests will be available until the event ends.
Ship It! Express – Limited Time Mode
Experience a day in the life of a Ship It! Express representative. Only thrown weapons and consumables are allowed in the Zero Build Ship It! Express limited-time experience, leaving you to “deliver” damage to your opponents. Deliver your way to victory by taking advantage of increased loot spawns and frequent Supply Drops. Don’t get caught up in the cold!
Ship It! Express is available until Winterfest ends (January 2, 2024, at 9 am ET) and is accessible via Discover.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and April O’Neil are Available in Item Shop
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are available in the item store for Winterfest. This means you can purchase and play as either Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, or Donatello.
The investigative reporter April O’Neil is also available for purchase, and each of the outfits has a LEGO style for use in LEGO Fortnite.
Fortnite Crew Benefit: Gilded Style of the Glorious Giftblade Back Bling
Fortnite Crew active subscribers will receive the Gilded Style of the Glorious Giftblade Back Bling if they log onto Fortnite during Winterfest 2023 (December 14, 2023, at 9 am ET to January 2, 2024, at 9 am ET). The Glorious Giftblade Back Bling is one of the free 14 Winterfest gifts.
Competitive Notes
- Holiday Presents!, Sneaky Snowmandos, and Snowball Launchers are not included in tournaments.
