The Sims 5 Full Map Has Leaked

The Sims 5 has been in active development, and during a recent playtest, the entire map was datamined by those participating.

The Sims 5 is the newest entry in Maxis’ life simulation game franchise. The series is famous for allowing you to meet the Grim Reaper and pull ladders out of occupied pools. During a recent playtest, players could experience the newest game’s map. However, during the playtest, the entire map was datamined by participants. It looks to show a different design from that of previous installments.

The Entire Map for The Sims 5 Has Leaked

The map leak comes from the user DzXAnt22 on Reddit, who claims to be a playtester for the game. They claim that Maxis is designing the map around Paris’ city center and that, from their experience, it will be an open world. While the sections they played in were limited, they believed that players would be able to freely explore the map like they could in Sims 3. They pointed to a lack of a travel feature, which is the way players go from one location to another in Sims 4, as well as the fact that no string references were found for “traveling” to other lots or locations.

It wouldn’t be surprising for Sims 5 to return to the open-world model of Sims 3, as the locked-off nature of Sims 4’s towns can feel a little restrictive. However, this is in no way a confirmation that it will be an open world, and DzXAnt22 goes on to inform fans that the build they played is over a year old and that things could change between then and now. You can see the map for yourself in the image below. The red section is reportedly the space the playtesters got to experience.

There were a few other details that DzXAnt22 reported on, namely that, internally, the game is currently named Project Rene. Additionally, they also pointed out that in their playtest it ran incredibly well, even while fully zoomed out. It goes without saying that all of this, including the above image, should be taken with a grain of salt.

Nevertheless, having a map leak like this points to a promising change for the series. However, only time will tell what changes we should expect to see for the franchise. After all, it has been ten years since the launch of The Sims 4. So, we are bound to learn more about the next installment soon.
