Skull and Bones: Is it Coming to Steam?

Skull and Bones may have chartered its way to PC and consoles, but is the seafaring adventure available on Steam? Here’s what you need to know.

Skull and Bones is the latest Pirate game to enter the seas, leaving fans excited to get their hands, hooks, and wooden legs back on deck. For those who love the challenge of open sea combat aboard the biggest warships they can find, then Skull & Bones will be an immediate purchase on your favorite platform. While players can experience the action on consoles, PC players want to know if they can buy it on Steam. If Steam happens to be your go-to, then we’ve got some good and bad news for you. But mostly bad.

Can You Get Skull and Bones On Steam?

No, Skull and Bones will not be made available on Steam at release. It is exclusive to the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store on PC. This is nothing new for Ubisoft. They typically release their games first on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. For those still unsure of when the game actually releases, check out our guide here.

This restricted PC platform release schedule has been the case with all of their recent major releases. This includes Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This is likely done so that Ubisoft can sell its newest and most popular games on its own platform first to maximize profits and drive PC players to the Ubisoft Store. While Skull and Bones not being released on Steam may be disheartening for some, there is a small ray of hope for those who are patient.

When Is Skull and Bones Coming to Steam?

Skull and Bones will likely be released onto Steam in a year, around February or March 2025. This is the typical release pattern for Ubisoft games on Steam, with, for example, Far Cry 6 releasing over a year later on the platform. Fortunately, this may actually be when Skull & Bones is in its best form, as Ubisoft has laid out the full 1-year roadmap in detail.

So, if you’re insisting on playing Skull and Bones on Steam, you’ll have to wait a little longer. However, it will eventually be made available for everyone to enjoy. For now, though, that’s everything you need to know about Skull & Bones’ release on Steam. Make sure to check out our Guide Hub for everything else there is to know on the high seas.
