Skull and Bones: All Treasure Map Types

Skull and Bones would not be an authentic pirating experience without hunting for loot using treasure maps. Fortunately, there are multiple types of maps all of which lead to rare booty.

Skull and Bones has in-depth features that are true to the pirating experience, from upgrading your ship with the best weapons to selling loot on your travels. Unsurprisingly, Skull and Bones also has everyone’s favorite part of being a pirate: finding treasure. However, there are many treasures to find, with various difficulties. Luckily, we’re here to help. Below, we discuss every type of Treasure Map in the game.

All Treasure Map Types in Skull and Bones

There are currently four types of Treasure Maps for players to find: Common Treasure Maps, Old Treasure Maps, Contract Treasure Maps, and Legendary Treasure Maps. Each of these map types has a different way of completing them, such as giving players various context clues. Below, we outline each type of Treasure Map in Skull and Bones:

Common Treasure Maps

Common Treasure Maps require players to observe the Treasure Map in their inventory. Here, you’ll find a map with drawn visual context clues and a short description of the location. You’ll know you’re in the right location when you see an X, and Skull and Bones prompts you to dig up the treasure. These maps provide a good amount of information for players to use in order to find the buried treasure.

A Common Treasure Map in Skull and Bones

Old Treasure Maps

Old Treasure Maps reward players for their patience and efforts with bountiful loot to find. These maps require players to observe the Treasure Map in their inventory, using the visual context clues and the short description of the location to find Old Treasure. Once at the location, Skull and Bones will prompt players to dig up the Treasure. However, this may be more difficult than other Treasure Maps in Skull and Bones, as these locations can be challenging to decipher.

Contract Treasure Maps

Due to these Treasure Maps being Contract Treasure, players can expect a more catered experience, as some of these Maps can also continue your progression during the campaign. Contract Treasure Maps also require players to observe the Treasure Map in their inventory. You’ll find a map with drawn visual context clues and a location description here. Once you follow the context clues to the location, you’ll know you’re in the right place when Skull and Bones prompts you to dig up the treasure itself when nearby. These maps usually provide a good amount of information for players to use to find the buried treasure.

A Contract Treasure Map

Legendary Treasure Maps

Legendary Treasure Maps are maps rewarded for challenging the PvP and PvE events in Skull and Bones. Because these maps offer a high-risk and high-reward hunt, they’re guaranteed to have valuable loot for players but will also be challenging to locate. Legendary Maps require players to go through many obstacles and use their knowledge of Skull and Bones to decipher where the treasure is. You’ll know you’re in the right location for this treasure when Skull and Bones prompts you to dig up the treasure when near it.
