Rise of the Ronin features several different types of Skill Points for players to get, and understanding how to unlock each one is the key to a perfect build.
Rise of the Ronin is an RPG that sees players unlock new skills to better kill their enemies. Naturally, you’ll need Skill Points in order to get these powerful abilities. However, Rise of the Ronin shakes things up a little by introducing several different types of Skill Points. If you want to unlock the best skills in the game, you’ll need to understand how to unlock each type of Skill Point.
Rise of the Ronin Skill Point Types Explained
There are two types of Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin: Normal and Rare. Normal Skill Points are used to unlock skills in all four of the Skill Trees. On the other hand, Rare Skill Points are broken into four categories: Strength, Dexterity, Charm, and Intellect. Certain skills in each Skill Tree will require Rare Skill Points of the corresponding type.
For example, to unlock a skill in the Strength Skill Tree, you may require 3 Strength Skill Points. You wouldn’t be able to use Normal Skill Points to unlock that skill. They also differ in how you unlock them, as each type of Skill Point requires a unique unlock method. We’ve explained all of that below.
How to Get Normal Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
You can get Normal Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin by leveling up, increasing your proficiency with a type of weapon, converting Karma, interacting with Shrines, and using a Treatise on Enlightenment. To earn Normal Skill Points as quickly as possible, we encourage you to try and complete as many side quests and activities as possible, as well as clearing out areas. You’ll also earn a lot just by fighting everything you see, so long as you continue to use the same weapon, as that’ll help build up your weapon proficiency.
You will gain one Normal Skill Point every time you level up. Additionally, you’ll gain a Normal Skill Point every time you increase your proficiency with a weapon, which is done by repeatedly using that weapon. You will also gain one Normal Skill Point the first time you interact with a Shrine, making them worth seeking out.
If you manage to accumulate enough Karma by helping others out, you can convert it to unlock Skill Points. Finally, you can use a Treatise on Enlightenment to unlock Normal Skill Points. These are earned from completing certain missions, building up your bonds with certain characters and factions, and can be purchased from special NPCs.
How to Get Rare Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
To unlock Rare Skill Points, you’ll need to complete certain bond missions, side quests, and activities. You can also convert any earned Karma into Rare Skill Points and use a Treatise on Strength, Treatise on Dexterity, Treatise on Charm, and Treatise on Intellect. In addition to these methods, there are specific ways you can earn each type of Rare Skill Point.
How to Get Strength Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
You will get Strength Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin by building up your bond with specific characters, as a reward for fugitive missions, and as a reward for gathering all the collectibles in each area. You can also use the aforementioned Treatises on Strength, as they will guarantee you a Strength Skill Point with each use.
How to Get Dexterity Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
You will get Dexterity Skill Points as a reward for beating the high-level Dojo training fights, as well as by building up your bond with specific characters. Once again, completing an area will grant you a Dexterity Skill Point, as will using a Treatises on Dexterity.
How to Get Charm Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
You will get Charm Skill Points as a reward for collecting cats across the open world. Finding as many of them as possible will net you the most amount of Skill Points. Additionally, building up your bonds, completing areas, and using Treatises on Charm will also net you with more Charm Skill Points.
How to Get Intellect Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin
You will get Intellect Skill Points in Rise of the Ronin as a reward for completing the photograph requests across the open world. You can get these as missions from vendors at the Photographic Studio, as well as find them while exploring. Additionally, you will also get Intellect Skill Points by building up your bonds and using Treatises on Intellect.
