The Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 event has finally rolled around. Get your bug nets ready as here are all the raids, encounters, bonuses, and more you’ll see in the event.
After two years, the Pokemon Go Bug Out event has finally returned. The event, which previously ran in 2022, sees all you Bug-type enthusiasts get the spotlight. Fortunately, this year is no different, and the lineup of encounters, raids, bonuses, and more is pretty bug-tacular. So, let’s all channel our inner Bug Catcher and get ready for the Bug Out 2024 event.
When Is the Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 Event?
The Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 event is a five-day event that starts on Friday, April 12, at 10 am local time and ends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 8 pm local time.
So, players in New Zealand will be able to access the event almost a whole day before those in the United States.
All Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 Wild Encounters
Players can encounter 10 different Bug-type Pokemon during the Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 event. You’ll even have a chance to catch shiny versions of some of these wild Pokemon! Here are all of the Pokemon that will appear more frequently:

- Weedle (Shiny Available)
- Shuckle (Shiny Available)
- Wurmple (Shiny Available)
- Kricketot (Shiny Available)
- Combee (Shiny Available)
- Sewaddle
- Dwebble (Shiny Available)

All Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 Raids
There are a number of raids that will take place during the Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 event. These are, naturally, against Bug-type Pokemon outside of one Mega Raid. Additionally, for 15 minutes after two or more Trainers have completed an in-person raid, more Pokemon will appear around the Gym that hosted it. So, it’s definitely worth getting out there and tackling a few. Here are all the raids in the Bug Out 2024 event.
One-Star Raids

Three-Star Raids
- Beedrill (Shiny Available)
- Pinsir (Shiny Available)

Five-Star Raids

Mega Raids
- Mega Charizard X (Shiny Available)
- Only until April 13 at 10 am

Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 Event Bonuses
The event bonuses for the Pokemon Go Bug Out 2024 event focus on increasing your XP and Candy gains for getting Nice Throws or better, as well as your chances of encountering Shiny Combee and Shiny Burmy. Here are all of the bonuses:
- 2× XP for successfully catching Pokemon with Nice Throws or better.
- Increased Candy for Nice Throws or better.
- Increased Candy XL for Nice Throws or better for Trainers level 31 and up.
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Combee and Shiny Burmy.
Field Research, Pokestop Showcases, and Collection Challenges
There will be event-themed Field Research tasks available for all Trainers to participate in. Players will be able to encounter the following Pokemon after completing the Field Research tasks:
- Paras (Shiny Available)
- Venonat (Shiny Available)
- Plant Cloak Burmy (Shiny Available)
- Sandy Cloak Burmy (Shiny Available)
- Trash Cloak Burmy (Shiny Available)
- Karrablast (Shiny Available)
- Shelmet (Shiny Available)
- Dewpider (Shiny Available)
- Wimpod (Shiny Available)
Additionally, if you complete certain Field Research tasks, you’ll be able to earn Mega Energy for the following Pokemon:
- Mega Beedrill
- Mega Pinsir
- Mega Scizor
There will also be Showcases at various PokeStops throughout the event. You will be able to enter event-themed Pokemon into these Showcases, so be sure to keep an eye out for that. Additionally, there will be Collection Challenges to complete. Players will earn reward encounters and Mega Energy for collecting certain Bug-type Pokemon. So, there will be plenty to keep you busy during the Bug Out 2024 event.
New Avatar Items
Trainers will be able to pick up some exclusive avatar items throughout the event. These are designed after the adorable Bug-type Pokemon Burmy and Combee. Here are all the items you can pick up:
- Burmy Earrings (Plant Cloak)
- Burmy Earrings (Sandy Cloak)
- Burmy Earrings (Trash Cloak)
- Male Combee Bag
- Female Combee Bag
