Outcast: A New Beginning: When Is the Review Embargo?

Outcast: A New Beginning is just around the corner, and players are eager to know when the review embargo will drop for the much-anticipated sequel. Here’s what you need to know.

It’s been 20 years since the original Outcast came out. Back then, Outcast was one of the earliest examples of non-linear open-world games before the genre exploded in popularity in the years since. Outcast: A New Beginning looks to build upon the first game’s pedigree while bringing it more in line with what you’d expect from a modern AAA experience. After nearly two decades, fans will want to know if the much-anticipated sequel was worth the wait. Fortunately, we have detailed below when the review embargo will drop so you know when you can find out if it’ll meet your expectations.

When Does the Outcast: A New Beginning Embargo Lift?

The Outcast: A New Beginning review embargo will end on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10 am ET/ 7 am PT/ 2 pm GMT and 1 am AEDT (Friday, March 15). The game’s director, Pablo Coma, officially confirmed this in a pre-launch FAQ over on Steam. The review embargo lifts precisely one day before the game officially launches on March 15. This won’t give players much time to pre-order the game if they wish to do so.

Thankfully, players have had over a month to try their hand at a generously sized demo of Outlast: A New Beginning to make up their minds before its release. Available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, the demo shows off a sizeable chunk of A New Beginning’s open world, where you can experience the game’s exploration, combat, and a little of its story to see if it’s to your liking. This should give you a good idea of whether the game is for you!
