In celebration of the yearly MAR10 day, Nintendo and Illumination have officially confirmed the next Super Mario Bros. Movie.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was an immediate hit when it was released in 2023. Although the first movie only came out last year, fans of Super Mario can’t help but wonder when the next film will be in cinemas. The day finally arrived, and an official date was confirmed by Nintendo and Illumination on MAR10 Day.
What Will the New Super Mario Bros. Movie Be About?
There is currently no information on what the new Super Mario Bros. Movie will be about. The only currently confirmed news is that the next movie will be released on Thursday, April 3, 2026. However, there is speculation that the next installment could be either a sequel or a character spin-off, such as Donkey Kong.
In a post made by Shigeru Miyamoto on X (Formally Twitter), he mentions that the anticipated film will broaden the cinematic universe while also working closely with Illumination. “We are now creating a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. This film is planned for release in theaters on April 3, 2026, in the US and many other markets, and throughout the month of April in other territories.”
“We’ll let you know the details once we’re ready to share more. This time, too, the staff at Illumination and Nintendo are working together. We’re thinking about broadening Mario’s world further, and it’ll have a bright and fun story. We hope you’ll look forward to it!”
This only makes the wait more exciting for fans worldwide, and many players can entertain themselves with the massive pool of games being released by Nintendo in the coming months.
