Jake Sully is the human-turned Na’vi protagonist of the Avatar films, portrayed by actor Sam Worthington. For many, it seemed logical that he would turn up in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the first canonical game in the series. After all, his journey of being a fish out of water and helping fight back against the RDA is not unlike that of the protagonist. Of course, for Avatar fans, this would be a huge moment. Is Jake Sully in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora?
No, Jake Sully is not in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as either a playable character or an NPC. He never turns up, nor do you ever see him. He is mentioned very briefly at the beginning of the game by the central antagonist, who tells you that Jake Sully has “gone native.” Instead, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora puts you in the role of an entirely new character, a Na’vi orphan who escapes from the clutches of the RDA.
This likely comes as bad news for fans of the character from the first 2 films. However, it’s not all bad news, as the game is completely canonical. That means that the events of the game will affect the events of future movies, with Magnus Jansén, the game’s creative director, telling IGN that “there are going to be some future sequel elements in Frontiers of Pandora that will pay off when […] Avatar 3 comes out in 2025.”
