WB Games and developer Unbroken Studios are happy to announce that their fast-paced, competitive multiplayer game, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is coming to PC and consoles.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a highly anticipated game that fills a noticeable gap in the Harry Potter video game franchise, as the previous release, Hogwarts Legacy, did not feature a playable version of Quidditch. According to the game’s FAQ, it is titled a “complete standalone game” and has been in development for “several years”.
This new addition to the Harry Potter gaming universe comes amid controversy surrounding Rowling’s personal views on gender identity, which has led some fans to distance themselves from her work. Despite this, Warner Bros. continues to explore and expand the Harry Potter universe, with a new live-action adaptation of the seven-book series coming to HBO, in which Rowling will be involved as an executive producer.
While previous Harry Potter video game adaptations have featured Quidditch as a playable element, the only other official game solely dedicated to the sport was Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, released in 2003 by EA. An unofficial Quidditch-inspired game called Broomstick League was in development but was pulled from Steam in 2020. Therefore, Quidditch Champions is expected to be a long-awaited and exciting addition for fans of the Harry Potter franchise.
Will there be Multiplayer in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions?
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions allows players to engage in the thrilling sport of Quidditch and other broomstick adventures with friends in a competitive multiplayer setting. Similar to Hogwarts Legacy, players will have the opportunity to create their own characters in Quidditch Champions as well.
While there is currently no release date for the game, players can sign up for playtesting on the official website.
