Amidst the high-octane thrillers and quirky indies at the SXSW Sydney 2023 Gaming Festival, a unique title captured our attention: Frogreign.
We were able to get our hands on this upcoming 2D metroidvania, where we immersed ourselves in its beautiful yet punishing world. As we navigated the mysterious kingdom, each level unveiled layers of intricate details, reflecting the passion and commitment of the developers at Arkanpixel.
What is Frogreign?
The kingdom of Callidryas Sultanate beckons, a land where legends state spirits breathed life into its once-desolate terrain. But as players will soon find out, not all is well. The land now grapples with encroaching darkness as a malicious cult rises, the royal family has disappeared, and the very spirits who were guardians seem to have forsaken the land.
You play as Rill, a banished young prince, and with the guide of Lumi, a mystical wisp sent by the spirits, players will traverse this endangered kingdom, uncovering secrets, confronting enemies, and attempting to restore the legacy of the royal lineage.

Whilst still deep in the development process, the passionate team of developers at Arkanpixel are working hard to ensure Frogreign can make its debut in the next year or two.
