Ships shooting at each other in Skull and Bones

Does Skull and Bones Have PvP?

If you were hoping to destroy your friends’ ships in some pirate-themed PvP in Skull and Bones, you’re going to be disappointed.

In Skull and Bones, players explore the high seas together in an always-online experience. Naturally, especially with similar games like Sea of Thieves featuring it, this has led many to wonder if PvP is a core gameplay mechanic. After all, there’s nothing quite like blowing up your friend’s ship and sailing away with all their plunder. Unfortunately, while there is PvP in Skull and Bones, it’s not in the way many were likely hoping for.

Is There PvP in Skull and Bones?

Yes, there is PvP in Skull and Bones; however, it is limited to specific game modes. You cannot engage in PvP in the open world, as attacking another player won’t deal any damage. Instead, you must play the PvP game mode, Cargo Hunt. The Cargo Hunt game mode sees players race to find treasure marked on a map. The first to find it will become a target for the other players and can be damaged by them. This is the only way to participate in PvP at the moment.

While you can shoot at another player’s ship in Skull and Bones, it won’t actually damage them. Instead, you’ll endlessly blast each other with absolutely no effect. While some fans who want to just enjoy the PvE aspect of Skull and Bones are content with this more opt-in nature of PvP, many are rather angry.

Ship combat in Skull and Bones

Of course, there will be more PvP-focused events throughout Skull and Bones’ lifetime. However, for the time being, if you were hoping for a more PvP-orientated game, you may be a little disappointed. That’s everything you need to know about Skull and Bones’ player-versus-player content. For more guides just like this one, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
