Call of Duty: MW3: What Is the Experimental Playlist?

A new playlist is available for players to try in Call of Duty: MW3 called Experimental Playlist. But what exactly is it, and how is it different from other modes?

Playlists are game modes in Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer that switch up the gameplay or maps. There are several already available in MW3, including Terminal 24/7. However, on November 16, Sledgehammer Games, the developer of Call of Duty: MW3, introduced a number of new playlists, including a Mosh Pit playlist and the brand-new Experimental playlist. However, it isn’t clear what this new Experimental Playlist is in MW3. Fortunately, we’ve explained exactly what you can expect from it below.

What Is the Experimental Playlist in MW3?

The Experimental Playlist in MW3 is a Multiplayer mode in which all enemy operators have red outlines to improve visibility for players. You can access this playlist from the Multiplayer menu, and is available for all players. It essentially makes the game a little easier, as it allows you to distinguish between enemy operators and friendly ones. Additionally, it helps those with smaller screens and lower resolution to easily identify enemies in the distance.

Developer Sledgehammer Games announced the mode via X (formerly Twitter) by saying, “Within this playlist, all Operators have a colored outline to distinguish them from the environment.” While it hasn’t been officially stated, this mode could be in response to the negative player feedback during the Beta about visibility. Many players complained that enemy operators were too hard to see or distinguish from their allies.

So, if you’re struggling to figure out who you’re supposed to be shooting, then the Experimental Playlist is for you. Additionally, if you have any feedback, then be sure to let Sledgehammer Games know. They mention in their X post that they are “excited to hear your feedback on this experiment!” Furthermore, they note that there will be an “official survey in the days ahead.”

That’s everything you need to know about the Experimental Playlist in Call of Duty: MW3. Be sure to check out our Games Hub for more guides just like this one.
