Xbox players can rejoice as Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally on the platform, but is it coming to Game Pass, too? Here’s what you need to know.
Baldur’s Gate 3 had a long journey to Xbox, but it’s finally here. It seems, however, that its journey isn’t quite over, as fans want the game to come to Game Pass. Nowadays, practically everything eventually drops on the subscription service. So, it only makes sense that Baldur’s Gate 3 would join the likes of Starfield. However, for those holding out hope that they’ll get to try it any time soon, a disappointing awakening is in store. Below, we explain if Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Xbox Game Pass or not.
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
No, Baldur’s Gate 3 is not coming to Xbox Game Pass. This has been confirmed by the developer, Larian Studio. In an interview with IGN, Larian Studio’s founder Swen Vincke firmly stated that not only was there never any intention to release it on Game Pass at launch, but “it’s not going to be on Game Pass” at all. This may come as a further blow to Xbox players, who already got the game late after delays.
However, there is a fair reason behind this decision. In that same interview, Vincke stated that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a “big game”, that they believe “there’s a fair price to be paid for that” and it “should be able to exist as it is.” Essentially, he’s saying that considering it has a runtime of at least 60 hours to do the main story and over 100 hours to do all of the side content, it’s fair that players should pay upfront for it rather than access it through a subscription service. “We made a big game, so I think there’s a fair price to be paid for that, and I think that that is okay. We don’t charge you any micro-transactions on top of it, so you get what you pay for. Upfront it’s a big meaty game. So I think that should be able to exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue making other games.”

So, while you may have to give up hope that it’ll come to Game Pass, you can still pick it up on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC and get a meaty adventure out of it.
