Spider-Man Star Teased Major Spider-Man 2 News

Spider-Man: Miles Morales actor, Nadji Jeter, potentially teased that the next instalment in the Spider-Man video game franchise has started production.

Way back in 2018, Insomniac released Marvel’s Spider-Man to much critical acclaim. It garnered rave reviews across the board, scoring an 8.7/10 from IGN, 87% on Metacritic and a 4/5 from Eurogamer. In 2019 it climbed to the top of the best-selling superhero game ladder, and in 2020, it was reportedly the best selling PS4 exclusive in the US. Only a few years after the first game was released, Insomniac released the quasi-sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. That game saw much of the same success. It gained high review scores and was the best selling physical PS5 launch title. But many have been wondering when the true sequel to the original game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be coming out. Well, fans may not have to wait too much longer.

What Was Teased?

Firstly, be sure to take this with a grain of salt. As with all unofficial announcements, this one could be about a whole range of different possibilities. What transpired was that Nadji Jeter, the actor who played Miles Morales in the standalone expansion, uploaded a photograph of himself to Instagram. In it, he is fully clad in a motion-capture suit. Soon after uploading the picture, it was taken down. This would insinuate that it was either uploaded accidentally, although that seems highly unlikely, or more realistically, it was a tease for a future project. Don’t worry, you can still see the picture here.

Now, this is particularly interesting news, as it could potentially mean that production has begun on the sequel. It would also confirm that Miles is going to be in the sequel, although that was pretty much a given. How soon a new title in the series could be released is completely up in the air at this point, and dependent on how much Insomniac decides to alter the game’s base formula. Miles Morales was able to be released only two years after the original game because it is ostensibly the same game with a different story. If the sequel is set in the same location, and features mostly the same combat, then I’d assume a quick turnaround is possible.

What Do You Think?

Unfortunately, this is all we know now. Hopefully, a more official announcement will be made soon. But until then, all we can do is speculate.
