The holiday season is receiving a new console in the form of the PS5 Slim model and several additions for players.
Although the PlayStation 5 lifecycle is just halfway through, Sony is revealing a new addition to the lineup. A new version known as the PS5 Slim looks to be a step up from its predecessor for digital and physical editions.
PS5 Slim Release Date
The PS5 Slim is now available in North America at the official PlayStation Store and local retailers. The console will slowly roll out throughout the world after the official release.
PS5 Slim Details
The new slim version of the PlayStation is getting a storage upgrade of 1TB for both the physical and digital editions of the console from the original 825 GB, allowing for more games to be stored on the internal SSD.
Also new with the slim model is a detachable Blu-ray disc drive for the digital version that can be added later on in case you decide to start collecting physical copies of games. The detachable disc drive will cost US$79.99/£99.99/AU$124.40.
For those curious about console orientation, a horizontal stand is included with the new slim model. But a new vertical stand will be available for those looking to stand the console upright for US$29.99/£24.99/AU$46.64.

How to Pre-Order the PS5 Slim
There has been no official date given for when pre-orders go live, but we can expect the date to be in a couple of weeks as the console will be released in November in North America.
