Inner Ashes Uses Puzzles That Help Alzheimer’s Patients, Demo Out Now

Developer Calathea Game Studio and publisher SelectaPlay has revealed a Steam Next Fest demo for the mind adventure indie title, Inner Ashes.

SelectaPlay is known for publishing the single-player indie game, Hostlight, and Inner Ashes is Calathea’s first project. The game delves into the unique niche of Alzheimer’s disease, specifically into the mind of someone suffering from it.

What is Inner Ashes?

Inner Ashes is a unique first-person indie adventure that tells the story of the protagonist Henry, a forest guard diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. The game’s journey details Henry on the search for his daughter Enid who has disappeared. Players will solve puzzles that will help stimulate Henry’s memories and aid him on his journey to find out what happened to his daughter.

Interestingly, the puzzles featured in the game use the same concepts used to treat real-life patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The puzzles help to mitigate their symptoms and Calathea Game Studio looks to incorporate this into the game to give players an understanding of it.
