How to Unlock Mounts in Diablo IV

Diablo IV is out now, and players who have already started playing the game will notice that the map is enormous. Fortunately, the game offers mounts to curve any frustrating transversal issues.

Although, Diablo IV makes you work hard for your mount as unlocking them isn’t available until much later in the game.

Unlocking Mounts in Diablo 4

Unlocking mounts in Diablo IV is a task that requires a bit of patience and progression in the game. Unlike some features that become readily available, gaining access to mounts involves completing a specific priority quest known as “Donan’s Favor”.

“Donan’s Favor” is found in Kyovashad, an area you can venture into as early as Act 1. However, this doesn’t mean you’ll be riding your mount right away. You must first complete a separate quest in the same area called “A Master’s Touch” before “Donan’s Favor” becomes available.

What Act Are Mounts Available in Diablo 4?

Once you’ve completed “A Master’s Touch” you must find the NPC Donan.

Unfortunately, you won’t encounter this vital character until you’re deep into Diablo IV’s storyline, specifically in Act 4. Leaving you to struggle through on your own two feet in the meantime. Donan can be found at The Cathedral of Light.

Once you speak with Donan, the next step involves backtracking to the Stable Master. Here you can turn in the “Donan’s Favor” quest. This marks the moment of triumph: unlocking your first mount!

This achievement doesn’t just benefit your current character, it expands the accessibility of mounts to all characters on your account. Now, you’re free to visit any Stable Master in the world of Diablo IV. Allowing you to purchase new mounts, enhance their stats, and customise their looks to suit your preference.
