Hogwarts Legacy requires quite a lot of space on your Nintendo Switch, with its base file size being smaller than the Day 1 patch.
It’s a miracle that Hogwarts Legacy has been ported to the Nintendo Switch. It’s not a cloud-based version but a complete port. So, it’s no surprise that it requires quite a sizeable chunk of your console’s storage. However, it is definitely not as much as the next-gen versions or even other ports on the platform. You won’t need 32GB like you do for the Witcher 3 on Switch, that’s for sure. Below, we explain exactly how much big Hogwarts Legacy’s file size is on the Nintendo Switch.
How Big Is Hogwarts Legacy Nintendo Switch File Size?
The base file size for both the Standard and Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch is 7GB. This includes both the physical and digital versions of the game. However, fans will need an additional 8GB of space for the Day One patch download. They will also need 1.5GB of space for any additional language packs they wish to download. This means that the total file size for both the physical and digital versions of Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch is 15GB.
This was confirmed on the official Portkey Games Support website, which mentions that for either edition, the “size is approximately 7 GB” and that players should have “an additional 8 GB of space to allot for the needs of our anticipated Day 1 patch download.”
For comparison, the PlayStation 5 version of Hogwarts Legacy has a file size of 79.543GB. Similarly, the PS4 version of the game has a file size of around 55GB. That makes the PS5 version of the game more than 10x the size, with the PS4 version being roughly 8x the size. This is no surprise, considering the recent gameplay that was revealed, which showcased a significantly downgraded version of the game.
