Helldivers 2: How to Fix “An Unknown Error Has Occurred”

Players have begun experiencing a brand new error that reads, “An unknown error has occurred” in Helldivers 2 since the latest update rolled out.

Helldivers 2 ballooned in popularity post-launch, which unfortunately caused a number of server issues. Largely, players have struggled to consistently play the game, with servers filling up quicker than Arrowhead Game Studios can expand them. Fortunately, prior to the most recent update, things seemed to be fine. However, since it was rolled out, players have been getting a new error message preventing them from playing the game. Below, we explain what it means and how to fix it.

What Is the Unknown Error in Helldivers 2?

The Unknown Error in Helldivers 2, which is preventing players from getting into the game, is caused by the servers being down. It started shortly after patch 01.000.100 was rolled out. Even players who were able to play the game prior to updating are suddenly hit with the “An unknown error has occurred” message.

How to Fix Unknown Error in Helldivers 2

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to fix the Unknown Error in Helldivers 2. This has been caused by a server outage and will resolve itself when the servers are back online. Players simply need to wait for the servers to come back online in order to access the game. However, this can take several hours. So, you should go and do something else and come back to Helldivers 2 at a later stage.

This can be an incredibly frustrating experience, especially for players keen on experiencing everything the new update has to offer. Unfortunately, they’ll just have to wait until Arrowhead Game Studios rectifies the error. Until then, make sure you check out our Guide Hub for more articles on Helldivers 2.
