Helldivers 2 is coming out on Steam, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be available on the Steam Deck. If you are hoping it is, here’s what you need to know.
Helldivers 2 is launching for both PC and PlayStation 5, offering fans on both platforms the opportunity to cull hordes of alien bugs. Of course, for the handheld aficionado, there isn’t much choice beyond the PlayStation Portal and Steam Deck. However, while Helldivers 2 will be playable on the Portal, fans are not sure if it will run on the Steam Deck. Below, we explain whether you can play Helldivers 2 on the handheld PC.
Can You Play Helldivers 2 on Steam Deck?
Yes, you can very likely play Helldivers 2 on the Steam Deck. However, it’s important to note that it does not currently have a Steam Deck rating. While this is expected to change at launch, it does mean that there is the possibility that it won’t run at launch. Considering the popularity of the Steam Deck, it would be surprising if Helldivers 2 skipped the platform entirely. Of course, there’s no guarantee that it will run in a completely playable state, even if it does launch on the Steam Deck.
It’s worth noting that the original Helldivers does run on the Steam Deck. It currently has a “Playable” rating, which is entirely down to it occasionally showing non-Steam Deck icons for certain button prompts. Otherwise, the Steam Deck version is completely playable. So, it’s likely that the developers have put in the effort to make Helldivers 2, at the very least, playable.
