The award-winning JRPG, Genshin Impact, is receiving its first major update later this month with update 2.0: The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia.

MiHoYo announced today that Genshin Impact will reveal its third of the game’s seven major cities on July 21, 2021. The upcoming Version 2.0 update, “The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia” will take players to the brand-new Inazuma region, located across the sea. This area is ruled by the Electro Archon and boasts different cultures, creatures, and mysteries.

New Genshin Impact Characters

The new update unveils several new characters. First is Kamisato Ayaka, a 5-star cryo sword-user from Inazuma and daughter of the Yashiro Commission’s Kamisato Clan. She is one of the characters opposing the Electro Archon’s Vision Hunt decree and will assist the Traveler on their journey.

The next character is Yoimiya, a 4-star pyro archer from the Naganohara family, hailing from Inazuma. Known as the ‘‘Queen of the Summer festival’’, Yoimiya excels at crafting fireworks. She also opposes the decree and is, therefore, an ally of the Traveler. Finally, Sayu is a 4-star anemo claymore-user from Inazuma as well. She is a ninja who also possesses animal features, like a fluffy tail.

Inazuma

Unlike Mondstadt and Liyue, the sea surrounds Inazuma’s six main islands. However, only three of the six islands will be accessible in Version 2.0. They are often subject to strong sea breezes and thunderstorms. Therefore, the weather across the islands drastically changes.

Despite Inazuma’s affinity to the lightning and Electro element, the Electro Archon, who rules the country, has turned to the pursuit of eternity. Throughout the adventure in Inazuma, players will be able to discover the unique cultural landscapes, stories, secrets, history and the Electro Archon on each of the different islands.

The Return of Old Genshin Impact Events

The Special Program announced several new events as well as the return of previous ones. Some of the returning events are the Theater Mechanicus, Lost Riches and Ley Line Overflow. There are also new domains and open-world puzzles that the player will be able to complete to obtain prizes, such as Primogems.

Moreover, the story will have the player join the resistance, fighting against the Electro Archon’s tyrannical Vision Hunt decree. So far in the story, a rebellion against a deity has been unprecedented. Consequently, Inazuma is shaping out to be the tensest political chapter yet in the Traveler’s journey.

Weapons and Artifacts

Naturally, the update also introduced new weapons. From the trailer, we saw two 5-star weapons make an appearance, including the “Thundering Pulse” and the “Mistsplitter Reforged”. New artifact sets have also been revealed.

Enemies

New enemies and precious loot also await in Inazuma. The Hypostasis family welcomes a new member – the Pyro Hypostasis. Another new boss, the Perpetual Mechanical Array, which seems to have some kind of connection with the Ruin Guards in Mondstadt and Liyue, will also be in Inazuma.

After its debut in Version 1.6, Maguu Kenki returns as World Boss and a source for Character Level-Up Materials in Inazuma. Lesser mob enemies will also be present, including wandering samurai, who enforce the Shogun’s decree, and a new branch of the Fatui.

To deliver a richer visual and tactile experience to players, the update refines character shading, adds Haptic Feedback support for the PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller, and introduces more feature optimisations.

Genshin Impact Version 2.0 will arrive on July 21, 2021. We’ll be following all the updates as they become available.
