The Finals is a brand-new fast-paced shooter available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, leading many people to wonder if there is aim assist.
In many FPS games, aim assist has been included to bridge the gap between mouse and keyboard users and those playing with a controller. This mechanic allows those who take advantage of aim assist to improve their playstyle and helps even the playing field when playing against opponents on PC. This further gives console players a chance to show off their skills when up against competitive opponents. Considering The Finals has crossplay, you’ll likely come across PC players while on console. So, having aim assist would be a big help. Below, we explain whether or not The Finals has aim assist.
Does The Finals Have Aim Assist?
Yes, there is aim assist inThe Finals on both PC and console. If you are playing on console or PC with a controller, aim assist is automatically toggled on.
Controversially, fans have noticed a bug that allows PC players to continue using a mouse and keyboard while reaping the benefits of aim assist by also having a controller plugged in. Chances are that this bug will be removed once the Open Beta has concluded on November 5, 2023. However, it is currently giving PC players the upper hand in combat.
How To Use Aim Assist In The Finals
To turn aim assist on or off in The Finals, head to the settings menu, then select the Controller tab and scroll down until you see Controller Aim Assist. You can then toggle this on or off. You can see a full breakdown of these instructions below:
- Go to Settings (the cog icon in the top right)
- Select the Controller tab
- Scroll down until you find Controller Aim Assist
- Toggle it On or Off
It’s important to note that aim assist will be automatically toggled on for controller users. However, unlike toggling crossplay, which affects who you play against, switching aim assist on or off only affects you and does not remove the option for other players.
Since aim assist levels the playing field for all players regardless of which platform you’re on, you’ll most likely find that after you’ve toggled aim assist on, it’ll be much easier to play. This is especially helpful if you’re struggling to get to grips with how this brand-new shooter works.
