Diablo 4: Are Classes Gender Locked?

The long-awaited Diablo 4 is finally here and the game features a whopping five different classes to choose from.

Given how customization heavy the nature of the game is, it only makes sense for players to wonder if the classes are gender locked.

Can You Choose Your Gender in Diablo 4?

The short and simple answer is yes, the five available classes in Diablo 4 are not gender locked and you can choose any of them regardless of gender. The game even goes one step further, adapting class names based on gender, such as “Sorcerer” or “Sorceress”.

This is definitely a step in the right direction and a huge commendation to the team at Blizzard for thinking about player identity in their game.

Diablo 4: Character Customization Options

Interchangeable genders are not the only thing you can customize in Diablo 4.

The game features a robust character creation screen where you can customize your hair, skin tone, facial hair, and tattoos, among other features.

Your character will evidently look different depending on the class you choose, as each class wears different types of armor and wields different kinds of weapons.

Can You Change Your Gender Throughout The Game in Diablo 4?

You might also be wondering if you can change your gender after you’ve chosen one at the beginning of the game. Unfortunately, the answer is no, as your character’s gender is locked after you begin the game.

If you wish to change it, you must create a new character and start the game over.

Diablo 4 launches officially on June 6, 2,023, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. Early Access is available now to those who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate Edition.
