Can You Play Diablo 4 Couch Co-Op or Splitscreen?

Diablo 4 is shaping up to be a game of the year contender and many people are wondering if the game offers local couch cooperative (co-op) play.

After all, your time slaying thousands of demons would be much better if you had a partner helping alongside you right?

Does Diablo 4 Offer Couch Co-Op or Splitscreen?

Surprisingly yes, Diablo 4 does feature local couch co-op, but only on consoles. Sorry PC players! It is unknown if this feature will come to PC in the future but it seems unlikely. General manager Rod Fergusson explained that there are significant technical challenges with logging into Battle.net for two players on PC at once.

The availability of couch co-op on consoles follows in line with Diablo 3, as it also offered splitscreen local co-op on consoles. The main difference is that Diablo 4 only supports local co-op of up to 2 players, whereas Diablo 3 had up to 4.

This allows the experience to be more streamlined and less chaotic on the television screen, as each player has their own menu and can perform actions simultaneously. This includes visiting merchants at the same time.

The benefits of playing co-op are that you get a 5% exp bonus when you are near a player and a 10% exp bonus when you are near a party member. Local co-op parties can seamlessly merge with other online players to form a 4 player party too.
