Battlefield 2042 Delay

Battlefield 2042 Officially Delayed After Earlier Rumours Surfaced

The multiplayer-only game, Battlefield 2042, will not be making its intended release date in October after being delayed by DICE.

DICE, the developer behind the game, tweeted earlier today on the official Battlefield account that their upcoming game would be pushed back a month with a new release date of November 19th, 2021. Oskar Gabrielson and the Battlefield 2042 development team explains that their decision to delay the game is due to “unforeseen challenges” related to the ongoing pandemic, very similar to other video game delays.

The development team thanks everyone for their enthusiasm and patience and says they will have more to share on Battlefield 2042‘s Open Beta later this month. For more information, check out the official announcement below:

Earlier this week, multiple insiders reported that Battlefield would be delayed, with another game allegedly pushed back to 2022. Now that the first game rumoured to be delayed turned out to be true, who knows what could be next?

Although the delay of any game is disappointing, Battlefield 2042 shows real potential. The game will feature multiplayer action of up to 128 players as well as the new Battlefield Portal, which allows players to make and share custom modes from previous Battlefield titles.

Battlefield 2042 will now be releasing on PlayStation, Xbox One, and PC on November 19th, 2021.
