After conducting a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), LocalThunk has confirmed that Balatro will be coming to mobile devices and receive future content updates, among other things.
After a meteoric launch in late February, Balatro reached over $1 million USD in just its first eight hours of release and went on to sell 500,000 copies in its first 10 days. This remarkable achievement occurred despite some challenges stemming from gambling-related allegations. Nonetheless, the developer managed to give back to the community on Reddit by hosting an AMA where many questions were answered, including if the game was coming to mobile devices.
Balatro is Coming to Mobile Devices (iOS and Android)
The developer responded to over 60 questions during the Balatro AMA, but arguably the most important was that the game will indeed be coming to iOS and Android devices soon. LocalThunk, the developer behind the game, stated, “We are currently working on the mobile version yes. If we have any new announcement around this we’ll post it on our Discord and Twitter.”
LocalThunk also reiterated that they were handling the Balatro mobile port by writing, “The Switch port, PC version, MacOS version and both mobile ports are being done by me!” So, you can rest easy if you thought the mobile editions would be designed by someone else.
Balatro Future Content Updates
LocalThunk also mentioned that he is going to continue working on Balatro, bringing updates and mod support to the game. When asked, “Do you plan to keep working on the game, on content or stuff like mod support?” LocalThunk responded with, “Yes on all counts! I have a lot of ideas for directions to take Balatro and I think you will all really enjoy what the game looks like in the future.” The developer also mentioned that, “Balance changes WILL be incoming, I want this game to be fun too!“
