Tin Hearts: A Heartfelt Puzzle Game For All Ages – Switch Review

One of my favourite childhood gaming memories was sitting around the school computers with friends playing Lemmings — which was somehow considered preinstalled educational content. So, I was thrilled to discover a new modern puzzler with a similar style and a captivating storyline, now available on handheld consoles like the Nintendo Switch. Unlike Lemmings, which quickly became complex and challenging for young players, Tin Hearts is a game that’s easy to learn, simple to navigate, with unique functionality and challenges.

If you are looking for a heartfelt story and a non-frustrating puzzler that is suitable for all ages, Tin Hearts might just be the game for you.

“The voice acting is superb, and the storyline is gripping, keeping you engaged throughout the game’s progression.”

Tin Hearts is a captivating short story, full of surprises. You play as Albert J. Butterworth, a brilliant Victorian toy maker, and you will get to know his family and the world they inhabit.

The objective of the game is to guide toy soldiers from point A to point B within Albert’s home in each level. As you progress through the game, the levels become more challenging and intricate, much like Albert’s toys, which also become more advanced as he develops as a toymaker.

The game’s artistic environments are stunning, and the incorporation of a toymaker’s world into a game that you can manipulate and change is impressive. The voice acting is superb, and the storyline is gripping, keeping you engaged throughout the game’s progression. Despite puzzle games typically lacking a solid storyline or emotional setting, the story of love and compromise draws you in.

Tin Hearts Offers a Unique Experience with a Captivating 3D World and Unique Challenges.

Tin Hearts is a game that challenges players to guide small tin soldiers to their destination without directly manipulating them. To achieve this, players must clear obstacles and use their environment to set the right course for each soldier. While the game draws inspiration from Lemmings, it offers a unique experience with a captivating 3D world and new challenges.

As players progress, they’ll encounter new mechanics that add an extra dimension to each level. These include the ability to fast forward or rewind time, move various objects, and manipulate the environment to help guide the soldiers.

One unique aspect of the game is the ability to navigate the levels by physically moving around the home and inspecting each level closely. Finding and manipulating objects in the environment is key to solving each puzzle, and completing levels quickly is immensely satisfying.

However, some levels in Tin Hearts require a lot more planning and experimentation to find the best solution. Additionally, on the Nintendo Switch, it can be challenging to find objects to interact with at times. But with the use of the zoom button, this issue can be resolved, but not quite as efficiently as I would have liked.

Tin Hearts is A Great Game For All Ages

Look no further if you are looking for a puzzler that is easy to play and also has a compelling story that will keep you wanting more. Tin Hearts is a warm and enjoyable game to play for all audiences yet challenging enough for all skill levels.

At US$29.99 / AU$45, Tin Hearts has plenty of story and gameplay to make it a worthwhile investment. If you have been waiting a long time for a polished competitor to Lemmings, Tin Hearts is a must-play on the Nintendo Switch.
