Tales of Kenzera: Zau features a vast array of special abilities that will help you in defeating your foes. However, you’ll need to unlock them first, and we’re here to explain how.
Players will be traversing the world of Kenzera while defeating hordes of enemies in Tales of Kenzera: Zau. Combat is front and center in the game, and having abilities equipped will help with those pesky boss fights. There are four acts with various levels for the abilities to be scattered around. Don’t worry, though; we have you covered with a list of all of the abilities and where to find them.
How Many Abilities Are in Tales of Kenzera: Zau?
There are 6 abilities for players to unlock throughout their playthrough in Tales of Kenzera: Zau. They are located in various sections of the game, with some being hidden off the beaten path. Each ability requires using either the Sun Mask or Moon Mask. So, keep this in mind when trying to use the appropriate ability.
How to Unlock Abilities in Tales of Kenzera: Zau
Players unlock the abilities by interacting with the Shaman Shrine statue upon arriving at their locations. Furthermore, none of the abilities are missable; you can find them easily at the locations below.
Ability #1
- Name: Bamba’s Stone
- Ability Effect: Allows you to freeze enemies and water.
- Mask Required to Use: Moon Mask
- Location: The Buluu Caverns. Players will find the statue at the bottom-left area of the Caverns section. Interacting with it gives players the ability.
Ability #2
- Name: Akida’s Spear
- Ability Effect: Allows players to hurl spears that are on fire. The ability is good for fighting enemies at long-range, airborne foes, and shielded enemies. Additionally, Akida’s Spear is needed to unlock different pathways for the Trinkets.
- Mask Required to Use: Sun Mask
- Location: Ikakaramba. Located in the top right area of the section. While progressing through the story, you will be led to this statue.
Ability #3
- Name: Zawadi’s Hook
- Ability Effect: A hook that allows players to traverse otherwise unreachable areas with the hook anchor points throughout the map.
- Mask Required to Use: Sun or Moon Masks
- Location: The most western part of Nature’s Crown sector. The statue sits at the end of the area.
Ability #4
- Name: Tawa’s Heart
- Ability Effect: Has two abilities. Using the Moon Mask allows players to climb on destroyed blue structures. However, red doors can be demolished with the Sun Mask equipped to create new paths.
- Mask Required to Use: Sun and Moon Masks
- Location: During the Kikiyaon boss fight. Before the damage phase of this boss fight starts, players must survive a chase involving Kikiyaon. However, you will see the statue when running straight through the section in the chase. Interact with it and get the ability before continuing with the chase sequence and boss fight.
Ability #5
- Name: Kabili’s Wings
- Ability Effect: Allows players to glide for long distances. The ability is required to complete several Shaman Challenges that reward Trinkets.
- Mask Required to Use: N/A
- Location: The Searing Sands. In the far right section of the desert biome of Tales of Kenzera: Zau, players will find the statue with the ability. You will go there during a quest called “Follow the Fireflies.” However, you can also find it’s location below.
Ability #6
- Name: Tshukudu’s Might
- Ability Effect: Tshukudu’s Might greatly enhances the player’s dash move and allows them to destroy purple stone structures. The ability is good for opening up areas that were previously blocked.
- Mask Required to Use: N/A
- Location: Mount Itshoka. Located on the far left section of the area. Playing through the game’s main narrative will lead you to the statue with this ability. See the location below for the exact spot.
