RuneScape

RuneScape is Coming to Steam

Originally released as a browser game almost 20 years ago, RuneScape is an iconic MMO that has touched millions of lives. It would also be one of the first MMO’s a lot of people would have played.

Since 2001, it has gained constant updates and additions, changing the game for the community. It has seen enough gaming-changing alterations for another version of RuneScape to be created. Old School RuneScape was created for those who wanted to play the game how it used to be without the constant updates and changes. And now both of these games will be coming to Steam.

It will include achievements, badges and trading cards, all of which are usually tied to modern steam games. But the news everyone wants to hear is, you will be able to link an existing RuneScape account to Steam so you can play with an existing character.

RuneScape’s Steam premiere will be on October 14th 2020, with Old School RuneScape following shortly after in 2021.

Phil Mansell, Jagex CEO, said: “Jagex is on a mission to bring the universe to more players globally. Following our games’ arrival on mobile stores, we are now expanding the availability of the desktop versions. Making them accessible to the Steam community is an important step in achieving this goal. We’re excited to see RuneScape debut on Steam from October 14th and look forward to Old School RuneScape’s arrival next year, as we enable even more gamers to access and explore our rich and engaging living game worlds.”

Even though RuneScape has been around for a long time, it’s fan base is as strong as ever. Earlier this year, it reported it’s highest-ever player paying membership numbers, in addition to millions who enjoy the free-to-access content.

RuneScape is already available to Wishlist on Steam ahead of it’s October 14 release.
