“It’s hard to convey to those currently without a VR headset just how much the experience in a game like Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom’sdiffers from other action adventure games out there. We wanted to create a trailer that brings that advantage to life, in much the same way that we set out to bring the world of the Shelbys to life.”
Caryn Mandabach Productions and Steven Knight co-authored the plot for Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom, an original tale inspired by the BAFTA-awarded drama of the same name. Additionally, Banijay Brands, the business division of content behemoth Banijay, partnered to create the game.
Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is the first virtual reality game inspired by the epic gangster drama. The game takes place in 1920s Birmingham and pits you as the main protagonist. For more than ten years, you have been on the run from a firing squad. With no other options or ideas, the infamous, Tommy Shelby, seems like your best foot forward. However, this leads you to become entangled in the pursuit of Churchill’s Red Box, a briefcase that holds the identities and whereabouts of every British agent worldwide. As you delve deeper into the realm of crime, you are thrust into another battle: a clash of guns and pride, where your sole chance for redemption lies in recovering the box.
At launch, you can expect Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom to offer:
An immersive world featuring the mean streets of 1920s Birmingham and London and iconic locations from the show, including The Garrison pub, Charlie’s Yard, and Shelbys’ Betting Shop.
Iconic characters from the show like Tommy Shelby (voiced by Cillian Murphy) and Arthur Shelby (voiced by Paul Anderson).
An epic story of being on the run where you must defeat the odds and win at any cost. By order of the Peaky Blinders.
Plenty of intense action filled with opportunity, risk and growth.
