Pokémon’s first strategic team battle game, Pokémon UNITE, is basically League of Legends with Pokemon and it launches next week.
Pokémon UNITE will launch on the Nintendo Switch on July 21, with a mobile version scheduled for September. Cross-platform play is also planned between Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, allowing players to play together or against each other.
Cross-save will also be available. Therefore, if you log in using your Nintendo Account or Pokémon Trainer Club account, you can use your game data on any device.
What is Pokemon UNITE?
Pokémon UNITE takes place on Aeos Island, a mythical island said to be on the ocean’s unexplored frontier. On the island, players will find the Unite Battle Committee (UBC), which runs a series of Unite Battle tournaments. Every player will begin as a rookie trainer who’s arrived on Aeos island to participate in these battles.
In each battle, players will compete in teams of five to overcome the opposition. Defeating another player will net you a mysterious new form of energy called Aeos energy. This energy must be deposited into “Goal Zones” during each battle to score points. Each Goal Zone has an energy limit and once it reaches capacity, it will disappear. Whoever has the most points when time runs out, wins. Some Pokémon will also evolve over time which will only add to the fun.
