Hilarious Supervillain Visual Novel, Henchman Story, Coming This October

Developer Silken Sail has announced that their hilarious interactive supervillain adventure visual novel, Henchman Story, is releasing on PC and consoles this October.

Following a staggeringly successful Kickstarter campaign, which raised over $18,500, Henchman Story has now officially received a release date. The visual novel is a “love letter and a playful twist on the ever-growing superhero genre”. It is being written by Outer Worlds alumnus Marc Soskin. It is a fully voice-acted visual novel starring actors from A Hat in Time, My Hero Academia and Marvel Avengers Academy. Now that is quite the cast. Marc Soskin spoke a little about the initial concept behind Henchman Story and the wild success of its Kickstarter Campaign.

“The initial concept behind Henchman Story was a marriage of my passion for complex, branching video game narratives, and my predisposition for weird, irreverent humor. To me, both comedy and games excel at showing us things from a different perspective, and that’s the goal here. […] It’s been amazing to see how [Henchman Story] struck a chord with so many people, especially during our Kickstarter campaign. It was a little nerve-wracking launching something like that in the middle of the pandemic, but the support we’ve received from our backers really helped us push through to create something we’re proud of.”

I highly recommend the frankly hilarious trailer featuring the brilliant Lord Bedlam. Let’s just say I’d absolutely play “Lord Bedlam 3: Ultimate Turbo Hyper Fighting Edition”. Check out the trailer here.

What Is Henchman Story

Henchman Story is a self-described “interactive supervillain adventure” that follows the adventures of henchman Stan. As the bumbling henchman to a truly villainous villain, you’ll have to contend with all the thankless work and pummelings from superheroes. But maybe, just maybe your life means so much more than taking another beating. Maybe your decisions really do matter. You’ll just have to find out in Henchman Story. Here’s some of what you can expect if you do:

  • Enjoy a riotously funny narrative that loves to poke fun at its superhero origins
  • Meet a colourful (quite literally) cast of characters from your fellow henchmen and supreme leader Lord Bedlam to the pesky superheroes, and maybe even fall in love
  • Make meaningful choices (despite being a lowly henchman) that lead to eleven unique endings
  • Immerse yourself in a fully voice acted narrative starring some of the best voice actors out there
