The Devolver Digital 2021 Showcase at Summer Game Fest took the form of a sketch performed by the management. It aimed to promote Devolver’s new Max Pass Plus+ subscription service, reveal exclusive merchandise, and present several premium games.
Devolver’s Max Pass Plus+ is a free subscription service that uses monetisation as a service model to make money. Essentially, top-tier subscribers can get access to premium exclusive purchases. Furthermore, Max Pass Plus+ subscribers get access to exclusive merchandise available on the website.

Shadow Warrior 3
Shadow Warrior 3 is an off-beat first-person shooter developed by Flying Wild Hog blending guns, melee and free-running resembling a mix between Overwatch and DOOM. It is expected to be released later this year on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
Trek to Yomi
Trek to Yomi is a cinematic samurai-inspired story by Leonard Menchiari featuring young Hiroki as he confronts himself and fights enemies amidst his duty to protect his town against threats. It is to be released in 2022 on Playstation 5, XBOX Series S/X and PC.
Phantom Abyss
Phantom Abyss is an asynchronous multiplayer 3D temple run game by Team Wiby where players have one chance to collect relics at procedurally generated temples. The game’s early access will be available on Steam starting in July 2022.
Wizard with a Gun
Wizard with a Gun is an online cooperative sandbox multiplayer survival game developed by Galvanic Games reminiscent of Don’t Starve. It is to be released on the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022.
Death’s Door
Death’s Door is an action-adventure RPG developed by Acid Nerve where the player has to track down a thief who stole a soul that was to be reaped by the protagonist. The game can already be pre-ordered for July 20th on XBOX, XBOX One and Steam.
Inscryption
Inscryption is a card-based odyssey Horror/Survival game by Daniel Mullins Games that blends deckbuilding, roguelike, escape-room puzzle and psychological horror. The beta is already available for the game, but the full game is set to be released later in 2021 on PC only.
Tumble Time
Tumble Time is a free physics-based puzzle game monetized through advertisements featuring characters from other Devolver games. The game will be released in the form of an application exclusively on mobile later in 2021.
Demon Throttle
Finally, Demon Throttle is a top-down retro shooter similar to old school bullet hell games developed by Doinksoft. The game is only available as a physical copy and can be pre-ordered exclusively at Special Reserve Games starting today, but will only be released in 2022.

The eye-rolling sketch aside, Devolver Digital showed up with a lot of very distinct games and an interesting monetisation scheme to top it all off. Recent times have seen a revival of the subscription model, which Devolver is clearly attempting to replicate, but whether it will catch on or not is up to the consumers.
