The Devolver Digital 2021 Showcase at Summer Game Fest took the form of a sketch performed by the management. It aimed to promote Devolver’s new Max Pass Plus+ subscription service, reveal exclusive merchandise, and present several premium games.
Devolver’s Max Pass Plus+ is a free subscription service that uses monetisation as a service model to make money. Essentially, top-tier subscribers can get access to premium exclusive purchases. Furthermore, Max Pass Plus+ subscribers get access to exclusive merchandise available on the website.
Shadow Warrior 3
Shadow Warrior 3 is an off-beat first-person shooter developed by Flying Wild Hog blending guns, melee and free-running resembling a mix between Overwatch and DOOM. It is expected to be released later this year on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.

Finally, Demon Throttle is a top-down retro shooter similar to old school bullet hell games developed by Doinksoft. The game is only available as a physical copy and can be pre-ordered exclusively at Special Reserve Games starting today, but will only be released in 2022.
What do you think?
The eye-rolling sketch aside, Devolver Digital showed up with a lot of very distinct games and an interesting monetisation scheme to top it all off. Recent times have seen a revival of the subscription model, which Devolver is clearly attempting to replicate, but whether it will catch on or not is up to the consumers.
