Summoning in Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16 does not use the term “summons” in-game. Instead, they are referred to as Eikons. Summoning an Eikon will be different to other games in the Final Fantasy series where typically the player will not control the summons.

In Final Fantasy 16, players will fight giant battles controlling their Eikons against other Eikons. We have seen this from what gameplay has been unveiled so far.

However, there will also be consequences to summoning Eikons, which is different to previous games. Summoning an Eikon drains life from the user, reducing their lifespan, so summoning cannot be done as freely as in previous games.

What Eikons Exist in Final Fantasy 16?

The player controls a character named Clive, who will gain many Eikons throughout the story. These powerful beings can turn the tide of battle, but using them comes at the cost of some of Clive’s life. Each Eikon represents an element and features deadly attacks, making them a potent but costly weapon.

The full list of Eikons is still unknown, although, we have already seen some gameplay and trailers that have showcased some of them so far.

This includes:

  • Phoenix
  • Ifrit
  • Shiva
  • Bahumat
  • Titan
  • Guruda
  • Ramuh
  • Odin
  • Typhon
  • Titan Lost

We are still yet to see if all of the Eikons will be playable and how much of each one we will see during the game.
