Big Games Night Out Set to Light Up Melbourne in October
Big Games Night Out is making its grand debut in Melbourne’s iconic Fed Square on Thursday, October 5, 2023, for Melbourne International Games Week.
Presented by Creative Victoria in partnership with Fed Square, this immersive event promises to be an unforgettable experience for all ages and gaming enthusiasts.
What is Big Games Night Out?
Big Games Night Out is an upcoming event that invites people to come together and celebrate the world of digital games, music, and cosplay. From curious newcomers to hardcore gamers, all are welcome to join in the fun.
The full program lineup is soon to be revealed, but the highlights already promise an exciting night. Big Games Night Out will feature an unmissable Cosplay Parade and Runway Experience, hosted by Myf Warhust and Montaigne from Stray Gods. Cosplayers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate, making it an inclusive celebration of the fantasy world within our favourite games. You can sign up for the event here.
Attendees can dive into indie arcade games, relive the nostalgia of 80s classics, and explore exciting local game releases. Plus, there’s a special intergenerational gaming arena in partnership with the Victorian Seniors Festival, promoting learning and fun for all ages.
Gamers can also participate in the Swap Meet, an opportunity to exchange old games and revel in some old-school nostalgia. Special events featuring some of Australia’s biggest games, including the 2022 hit “Cult of the Lamb,” are also on the agenda. Presented by ACMI and Melbourne Fringe, “Cult of the Lamb: The Ritual” will feature large-scale puppets, a DJ performance by River Boy, and giant animated projections of beloved in-game characters.
Additionally, to celebrate the launch of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical from Victorian-based Summerfall Studios, Big Games Night Out will present the Stray Gods Fashion Showcase. Eight Melbourne fashion designers will highlight Stray Gods character costumes alongside their own unique creations, inspired by the game’s epic narrative.
Big Games Night Out is set to be a spectacular night of free events across Fed Square, part of our biggest-ever Melbourne International Games Week and a jam-packed lineup of creative events across the state this October.
