Nintendo Switch ports are a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, you’ve got near miracles like the Kingdom Come Deliverance port, and on the other, you’ve got the likes of Mortal Kombat 1. Ouch, that one hurt. Fortunately, Animal Well, the debut title from developer Billy Basso, is a pretty stellar Switch port and one that won’t let you down.

Is Animal Well’s Performance Good on Switch?

Yes, Animal Well performs excellently on the Nintendo Switch. It has a stable framerate throughout and does not suffer from reduced visuals compared to the other platforms. Additionally, everything reads well on handheld. So, you wont’ be squinting in order to solve puzzles or navigate through the game’s dark environments.

In fact, the Switch may be the best place to play Animal Well, as its portability and general ease of use make it the ideal console for Metroidvanias. There isn’t a downside, at least in our opinion, to playing Animal Well on Switch. We had a perfectly smooth experience throughout our relatively short playthrough and encountered no bugs or glitches.
