Xbox Gamescom 2021: Everything Announced

Earlier today, Xbox presented their Gamescom showcase. Even though there were few surprises, it did provide some nice updates for their upcoming games. Here’s everything that was announced at the Xbox Gamescom 2021 showcase.

Dying Light 2

The Xbox show began with a new Dying Light 2 trailer, showcasing some gameplay ahead of release on December 7, 2021.

Flight Simulator

The latest World Update for Flight Simulator introduces big updates to Germany Austria and Switzerland with new Aerial Maps, improved 3D city scans, and 100 of the most famous landmarks added around the various improved areas. There is also plenty of new content on the horizon.

The Flight Simulator World Update VI arrives on September 7th.

Humble Bundle Game Pass

Humble Games has partnered with Microsoft to add more indies to the Xbox Game Pass. Ten new games will join Game Pass and will be available on day one. These are:

  • Archvale
  • Bushiden
  • Chinatown Detective Agency
  • Dodgeball Academia
  • Flynn: Son of Crimson
  • Midnight Fight Express
  • Next Space Rebels
  • Signalis
  • Unpacking
  • Unsighted

Into the Pit

Into the Pit is a fast-paced retro-FPS roguelite set in a cursed village. Dark magics have overwhelmed the village, It’s up to you to rescue the survivors, grow your powers, and journey forth Into the Pit. It launches on Xbox and PC on October 19 and will be available on Xbox Game Pass day one.

Age of Empires IV

Age of Empires IV introduced us to the “Hands-on History” feature coming to the game. This first episode focuses on the Trebuchet. Age of Empires IV will be available on October 28, 2021, on PC.

XCloud

Xbox Cloud Streaming will be coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One this Holiday. This means you can play Xbox Series X|S exclusive games on your Xbox One via the Cloud without downloading anything.

Wastelands 3: Cult of the Holy Detonation

Cult of Holy Detonation is a new DLC for Wasteland 3. It requires players to journey into the Cheyenne Mountain military complex to handle a cult that wants to blow up the world. The DLC arrives on October 5.

Sea of Thieves x Borderlands Mayhem

In a somewhat strange partnership, Borderlands is coming to Sea of Thieves with the Making Mayhem event. This event is live now and will run until September 7.

State of Decay 2: Homecoming

While players wait for the upcoming State of Decay 3, State of Decay 2 will receive a Homecoming update reintroducing players to Trumbull Valley, the map featured in the original game’s campaign. This will be available on September 1st.

Stray Blade

Stray Blade is an action RPG with intense combat and mysterious civilisation. It will release in 2022.

Crusader Kings III

Paradox will attempt to switch the script and defy the track record of poor console strategy games when they release Crusader Kings III on Xbox. There is no release date yet.

Psychonaunts 2

Psychonauts 2 is a platform-adventure game with cinematic style and tons of customisable psychic powers. You can play it now with Xbox Game Pass.

The Gunk

We have had no news since its announcement last year. Fortunately, it’s good to see The Gunk back on track. The game will release this December for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 is a stunning game, set to showcase be a significant release for Xbox. We got to see the first 8 minutes and it proved to be absolutely magnificent. Xbox also announced the cover cars for the game in a separate trailer. You can view that here. They even released a beautiful limited edition controller for the game that you can check out here.
