Following the recent Xbox Showcase, Phil Spencer has reconfirmed that Microsoft is keen to port more Xbox games to PlayStation and other platforms.
In case you didn’t already know, Microsoft really wants to put its games on every platform possible. Back in April 2024, a Microsoft earnings call reiterated the company’s desire to port Xbox games to wherever fans are. In fact, that literally happened with four Xbox games, including Sea of Thieves. Well, apparently, people are still unsure whether Microsoft wants to bring games to other platforms. Phil Spencer has once again confirmed Microsoft’s commitment to bringing Xbox games to other platforms.
Phil Spencer Commits to Bring More Xbox Games to PlayStation
During IGN’s coverage of the Xbox Showcase 2024 event, Phil Spencer spoke with them about how fans can expect to see more Xbox games coming to different platforms, including PlayStation. Spencer mentioned how they are committed to putting more Xbox games “on more platforms” as this is a “benefit to the franchises that we are building.”
Of course, this makes total sense, especially considering how sales of the PS5 are astronomically higher than sales of the Xbox Series X/S. It also isn’t all that surprising, as they’ve been banging this drum for quite some time now, mainly since the buyout of Activision Blizzard. Here is Phil Spencer’s full quote from the interview: “Our commitment to our Xbox customers is that you are going to get the opportunity to buy or subscribe to the game; we are going to support the game on other screens. And you are going to see more of our games on more platforms. We just see that as a benefit to the franchises that we are building. And we see that from players, and the players love to be able to play.”

Of course, it isn’t clear exactly which games will be ported. However, there were several announced at the Xbox Showcase that are definitely coming to PlayStation. So, players have those, and likely many more, to look forward to. Are you surprised by Phil Spencer’s comments? Let us know in the comments below.
