Canceled Cyberpunk 2077 ‘Moon’ DLC Surfaces Online

Files for another content-filled Cyberpunk 2077 DLC have leaked online. However, it has unfortunately been canceled.

Although Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough launch, it has overcome many obstacles and given players a beautiful futuristic story to enjoy. Phantom Liberty’s release brought a massive number of players back into the game. However, files have recently surfaced online showcasing a canceled DLC players would have loved to experience.

What Was The Cyberpunk 2077 Moon DLC?

The unnamed Cyberpunk 2077 Moon DLC would have allowed players to explore a sizeable inhabited colony on the moon. This colony is mentioned throughout Cyberpunk 2077 and in Phantom Liberty and was originally going to be part of the base game. However, CD Projekt Red realized this would be too out of reach and decided to use the idea for a DLC.

Unfortunately, this ended up being the downfall of the Moon DLC. However, thanks to recent leaks online from an anonymous poster on 4chan, we can see what the DLC would have featured if it went forward. Images of the map were found, which show us that the expansion was 6 square km, making this a sizeable DLC. Set pieces were found, such as all different kinds of moon base pieces. Early concept images and file repositories are also among the leaked files, along with other bits and pieces. However, like any other leaks, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

It’s safe to say that CD Projekt Red had a lot of content in mind for the DLC. Players would have loved to have explored the moon in Cyberpunk 2077. However, due to CD Projekt Red officially finishing up Cyberpunk 2077 and moving to its next project, it is likely players will never get to experience the scrapped Moon DLC.

Why Was The Cyberpunk 2077 Moon DLC Canceled?

There is currently no specific information as to why the Moon DLC was canceled. Last year, CD Projekt Red announced Phantom Liberty was, unfortunately, going to be the only DLC. This was due to the many delays that resulted in Cyberpunk launching far later than intended. The developer also wanted to move on from REDengine and work with Unreal Engine. However, we do not know if this is the sole reason why the Moon DLC didn’t go forward.

That’s everything you need to know about the canceled Moon DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. If you’d like to find more information like this, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
