Yooka-Laylee is getting a fresh coat of paint and brand-new gameplay features in the Yooka-Replaylee remaster. Here’s everything you need to know.
Announced during the 2024 Guerilla Collective, Yooka-Replaylee is looking to bring a fresh perspective to Yooka-Laylee, Playtonic’s 3D platformer. The title burst onto the scene back in 2017 and is a spiritual successor to the all-time classic Banjo-Kazooie. Players explore unique worlds as the rambunctious pair, Yooka and Laylee. It seems that Playtonic looks to bring the adventure to a new generation with Yooka-Replaylee.

Playtonic revealed new details on Yooka-Replaylee, which will serve as the refined version of Yooka-Laylee. The title will improve the game with new visuals, an improved camera, and a fresh update to the score (done by Grant Kirkhope). Yooka-Replaylee is also adding new content to the game that is not in the original.
The game will look and run better in terms of visuals. Players on console will likely be able to experience the game at 60fps, compared to the current 30fps. Players can expect new challenges to appear in the game, as well as a new currency in the Hivory Towers to collect and spend on the vending machine in-game. Furthermore, the addition of a world map is going to help players navigate not only the area but also their progress on challenges and collectibles and make it much less overwhelming. Additionally, new tonics will be making their way to Yooka-Replaylee and Vendi is offering players new merchandise to pick up to accessorize your adventures. More details about Yooka-Replaylee are going to be discussed during a Q&A session on the official Playtonic YouTube channel. The session is taking place on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
