XDefiant Is More Popular Than Call of Duty Right Now

The XDefiant player count has absolutely skyrocketed in just a handful of hours, and its viewership has even surpassed Call of Duty on Twitch.

XDefiant was always going to be somewhat successful, considering it is a free-to-play shooter dropping for both consoles and PC and from a known triple-A developer. However, many may be surprised to learn just how popular it has become. The shooter has not only gone on to smash Ubisoft’s expectations but also blow CoD out of the water.

XDefiant Players Smash Record in Just a Few Hours

The XDefiant community has proven it’s only getting bigger after it smashed a challenge set by Ubisoft. Players were tasked with dealing 25 million points of weapon damage as a community challenge but promptly knocked it out of the park, dealing 3.321 billion points of damage, roughly 132 times the amount that was requested. This number has only continued to grow, reaching well over 8 billion only a few hours after Ubisoft boasted on X about the staggering achievement.

Of course, this is a pretty good indication that XDefiant has a fairly healthy player base. In fact, Insider Gaming reported that XDefiant hit 1 million unique players in just under 2.5 hours. This makes it the fastest-ever game launch in Ubisoft’s history. It only continued to get bigger as it reportedly hit “3 million unique players and around 300,000 concurrent players” after just 48 hours.

Of course, it’s very possible that this player count will diminish over the coming months as the game’s popularity drops. However, as of writing, it is the 10th most popular category on Twitch, two ahead of Warzone. So, it’s likely that XDefiant will continue to have an impressive launch, especially with the Preseason battle pass to complete and future Seasons adding even more content.
