Picking the right Factions in XDefiant can help you and your team achieve victory, and we have a tier list of all of them to help you decide.
XDefiant’s Factions come from all walks of Ubisoft titles. Players select original characters from the groups and compete against other teams. Each Faction has its own abilities, and although you may have all the weapons unlocked, choosing the right Faction is the difference between victory or defeat. Below, we have compiled a tier list of all of the current Factions in XDefiant, from the best choices to the weakest links.
XDefiant Factions Tier List
| Tier | Faction Name |
| S | Phantoms, Echelon |
| A | Libertad |
| B | Cleaners |
| C | DedSec |
S Tier – Phantoms (Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Phantoms)
- How to Unlock: Unlocked by default.
The Phantoms are currently the strongest and best choice to pick for a Faction in XDefiant. Besides their cool aesthetic, the Phantoms have an incredible Passive, which grants them 120 Health instead of 100. Furthermore, they possess the Mag Barrier, which blocks all incoming damage, and with the modes in XDefiant being objective-based, this ability is a must-have for your team. The Blitz Shield is also fantastic to have for the Escort Payload mode, and the Ultimate ability, Aegis, not only blocks damage but one-shots enemies that try to take you down while using it. Having a Phantom on your team is the key to success.

S Tier – Echelon (Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell)
- How to Unlock: Unlocked by default.
The Echelon is another key Faction to have on your team. The amazing Sonar Goggles Ultimate Ability highlights enemies around the map and gives players the iconic 5.7 Pistol, which takes 1-2 shots to kill any enemy. Additionally, the Intel Suit is key, as it reveals enemy locations for you and your team, which, in any area defense mode, gives you a massive upper hand and prevents you from being flanked. Even the Digital Ghillie Suit ability works wonders, as the cloaking feature helps to sneak up on enemies and surprise them. The Faction’s passive is great for players who wish to remain as hidden as possible because it hides your blip from the mini-map. Be sure to give the Echelon a test drive if you haven’t done so yet.

A Tier – Libertad (Far Cry)
- How to Unlock: Unlocked by default.
The Libertad is a great choice for players who prefer healing and support roles as all of their abilities focus on it. The passive for the Libertad slowly heals players and teammates when close to each other. They also have an ability that places a healing device on the ground that continues to heal nearby allies until it is destroyed or canceled. The Ultimate Ability, Médico Supremo, can keep you and your team on a point, unbothered, because it grants significant health regen speed as well as more health points. The Libertad is great for overall survivability, with their only weakness being that if you have teammates who don’t take advantage of the healing or die too fast, your role is a little pointless.

B Tier – Cleaners (Tom Clancy’s The Division)
- How to Unlock: Unlocked by default.
The Cleaners are a decent group to pick for matches. The passive of incendiary rounds may seem like a good choice, but the range sacrifice can hurt your gunfights. The Firebomb ability is an optimal choice, as it allows you to easily clean objectives. The class lacks the Incinerator Drone ability, as it is situational, and you must be able to time it well to take down foes. Lastly, The Purifier Ultimate, while strong, has a limited range, and players can be cut down very easily while using it as there is no extra health given, and your mobility while using it is reduced to a snail’s pace.

C Tier – DedSec (Watch Dogs)
- How to Unlock: Complete the Major Challenge or Purchase from the In-game Store.
The DedSec, while the newest faction, is the most disappointing one. The group’s passive is their best feature, as they can infinitely refill their grenades. The Spiderbot ability, while good at stunning enemies, is easily destroyed thanks to its low health pool. When it comes to Hijack, abilities are either done or destroyed before you can get a chance to hack it. Finally, the Lockout Ultimate, while helpful in stopping all abilities, only affects a moderate-sized area. Hopefully, some much-needed buffs are on the way to make the DedSec Faction more viable.
